Named after its proximity to the air force station, Viman Nagar is a bustling area with Phoenix Marketcity (Pune's largest mall), Symbiosis University campus, and numerous IT offices along Nagar Road. Its strategic location on the eastern side of Pune gives it quick access to the expressway via Shikrapur Road or the Pune–Ahmednagar Highway.
From Viman Nagar, the typical route heads through Nagar Road towards the Pune expressway entry at Khed–Shivapur or Dehu Road interchange. The expressway carries you 94.5 km through the Western Ghats — past Lonavala, through 5 tunnels, and down the Khopoli ghat — before emerging at Kalamboli. From there, the Eastern Freeway or Western Express Highway takes you directly to CSMIA Mumbai Airport.
